The first family group, two adults with 2 fledged but fully dependant young, was seen at 3260 metres on the small marsh adjacent to Km post 2067 on NH 109 (the Beijing to Lhasa road) – 7 kms west of Dao Tang He towards Qinghai Hu (36° 25.5' N., 100° 53.9' E.). The second family group, two adults with two extremely young, nest bound chicks were seen at 3200 metres besides Xiao Bei Hu (Xiaopo Hu) (at the eastern end of Qinghai Hu).
